Animals Are Very Expensive in My Country. What Should I Do for My Ritual Sacrifice?

Question: Assalam alaykum

The Indian government has banned slaughtering of big animals. Because of this the prices of animals are ver high. It is very difficult for a normal person like me to afford slaughtering of small or big animals in that price.

Can I transfer money to an other country where the same can be done and circumstances are easy for them?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

If you don’t have the zakatable minimum (nisab) in any form of wealth, you aren’t responsible for performing the ritual sacrifice (udhiya/qurbani). If you are in fact required to sacrifice, you can send this money abroad if it is easier for you.

And Allah Most High knows best.
