Is My Milk-Sister a Mahram for My Brother?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: Assalam alaykum
My aunt suckled me when I was young and so she is a mahram to me. This makes her daughter a sister to me. Does this make her a mahram to my brother (whom my aunt didn’t suckle)?
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
No, your brother is not considered to have any relation to your milk-sister. The basis is that relationships established by consuming the milk of a lady are specific to the infant who drunk the milk. Hence, other family members remain as they are, namely, unrelated to the milk-mother and her family.
And Allah Most High knows best.
