The Scholar on Verge of Eviction and Knowledge Without Barriers

The Scholar on Verge of Eviction and Knowledge Without Barriers

In the Name of Allah, the Benevolent, the Merciful

“Religion is sincere concern,” said the Beloved Messenger of Allah

(peace & blessings be upon him & his folk)

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

It came to our attention this afternoon that:

URGENT: There is a scholar of Islam one day away from EVICTION from his house. Behind on rent; no funds even for food. Has family and children. Legitimate case. (I know him personaly, and well.) If you can assist, email me (…), and I’ll send transfer information. — ZAKAT-eligible. (Better to give now than to “wait for Ramadan.”) – from Shaykh Faraz Rabbani‘s Facebook update.

Alhamdulillah, within two hours, the full amount was raised, as posted on the SeekersGuidance page on Facebook:

Update from Shaykh Faraz Rabbani: The full amount has been raised for the scholar who was on the verge of eviction, Alhamdulillah. Masha’ Allah la quwwata illa bi’l Llah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke truth when he said: “My Umma is like the rain: it isn’t clear whether its first is best or its last.”

This kind of sad and embarrassing situation–for us as an Umma–is why SeekersGuidance has launched its Knowledge Without Barriers initiative. It is meant both to spread knowledge and to empower scholars to teach and seekers of knowledge to seek… Do consider becoming a supporter…. http://seekers.nationbuilder.com/

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani emailed the SeekersGuidance team and volunteers:

Alhamdulillah, over $12,000 (more than the basic need) was raised for this scholar in need in under two hours. Alhamdulillah.

As you know, SeekersGuidance has launched a $300k in 30 days campaign. Let’s all please roll up our sleeves (metaphorically–esp sisters, as forearms are awra in public), and help make this a reality.

How? Five (plus one) steps.

[0] Become a monthly donor yourself. A key to baraka in calling to the good, is to be acting yourself on what you call to.

[1] Go to the SeekersGuidance Facebook page, and share the Knowledge Without Barriers-related updates.

[2] Share Knowledge Without Barriers-related announcements from the SeekersGuidance mailing list (join), with friends, family, and on relevant mailing lists and through social media.

[3] Email Sidi Zeeshan Qasim (SeekersGuidance Development Manager, [email protected]), and join the Knowledge Without Barriers team.

[4] Plan from now and host a Knowledge Without Barriers fundraising iftar–whether at your home, at your mosque, your study group, your SeekersCircle, or elsewhere. Email Sidi Zeeshan (above) for details

[5] Make dua for Knowledge Without Barriers and SeekersGuidance–and its teachers, staff, volunteers, students, and supporters–daily.

Oh (2.0)… and why not make the KWB banner (see https://www.facebook.com/seekersguidance) your Facebook cover page…? And encourage others to do so.

And Allah alone gives success. wassalam, Faraz Rabbani

Alhamdulillah
