Shaykh Abdal Hakim speaks first on the road that a Muslim follows through this world. Like travelers in the desert we move from one oasis, across the sand to that oasis in the distance.

An Open Invitation

The distant oasis being the Garden with its shade and rivers, its abodes and fruits. Between this oasis and that Garden lies the desert through which there is only one Right Path. The Garden to which we are invited and have been promised.

Allah invites us to this path leading to our final abode. The path is trod not with our faltering steps but with our hearts. For Allah does not look at our form but at our hearts. We can turn our hearts to fire or to cool gardens.

From Sin to Righteousness

We can choose the Right Path. We can make a fire in our hearts. Carry within us our own hell of impulses and desires.

Or we can create a Garden within our hearts through remembrance of the Garden from which we came, and the Garden to which we go. This remembrance makes us the people of beauty and guidance.

People who turn away from the desert of sin and turn to the Garden of the Righteous.
