    About the Course Text

    This course is an English-language explanation of al-Murshid al-Mu’in, a 318-line didactic poem on the essentials of belief, worship, and spirituality by the great Moroccan Maliki scholar and saint ‘Abdul Wahid b. ‘Ashir (d. 1042 AH / 1631 CE). One of the most popular manuals of sacred law according to the Maliki school, it is the subject of dozens of commentaries and has been memorized by students of the Maliki school all over the world ever since it was written all the way down to the present day.

    About the Course Teachers

    Shaykh Walead Muhammad Mosaad

    Walead Mohammed Mosaad is a teacher and researcher of the Islamic sciences. He is the Director of Muslim Student Life at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and an adjunct professor of Ethics in the philosophy department at the same university.. He has completed degrees from Rutgers University, the Fath Islamic Seminary in Damascus, al-Azhar University in Cairo, the University of Liverpool, and a PhD in Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter in the UK. He has lectured on various topics of interest, including Muslims as minorities, interfaith understanding, and the importance of purification and spirituality in addressing the human condition.
