This important course seeks to provide guidance on one of the most critical topics of the times: raising mentally and spiritually healthy children. This course provides practical advice on how to raise upright children in the spirit of the Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah. Based on classical texts on Islamic parenting, the course contextualizes their wisdom in light of modern day circumstances and addresses the most pressing parenting questions, including how to raise children that are spiritual and love Allah and His Messenger, how to protect children from negative influences, how to discipline them, and how to deal with parenting issues specific to living in the West. This course is a must for all concerned Muslim parents.
Children shape the next generation; therefore, raising them as believers is one of the most noble and important tasks a Muslim can blessed with. Imparting children with God consciousness, sound values, and proper manners is a trust from Allah, and therefore should not be taken lightly.
This course will offer parents and guardians parenting advice based on the Book and the Prophetic example. It is based on two unique texts: Manzumat Riyadat al-Sibyan (A Treatise on Raising Children), a classical poem on parenting written 500 years ago by one of the leading authorities of the Shafi’ī School, Imam Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Ramli who was in the tenth century after Hijra, and its commentary Simt al-’Uqyan (A Thread of Pure Gold) authored by the Yemeni scholar Shaykh ‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad Ba Sawdan of the 13th century AH.
Sh. Faraz Rabbani and Ust. Shireen Ahmed — a husband and wife with three children of their own — bring these two classical texts to life by explaining their wisdom in light of modern day realities. This course is a must for all parents concerned with raising their children in accordance with Prophetic guidance and inculcating them with proper Islamic manners and ethics.
