This course covers the fundamentals of the religion that all believers are obligated to know and practice: sound beliefs, valid purification and prayer, zakat, fasting, and the key principles related to one’s life and dealings.
The course is based on Shaykh Faraz Rabbani’s The Absolute Essentials of Islam. This is a new version of the text, with all new recordings by the author himself.
This course is intended for all those who are seeking clarity in their faith and worship.
Allah has commanded us to worship and obey Him with sincerity, with reverence, love, and thankfulness towards Him. As important a command as this is, we cannot worship Him without the proper knowledge. The Beloved Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim, male and female.”
This course outlines the absolute essentials of the knowledge needed to properly worship and obey Allah the Exalted. It covers what every Muslim must know: (i) sound beliefs, (ii) how to make one’s prayer, zakat, and fasting valid and proper, and (iii) how to be able to steadfastly tread throughout one’s life on the straight path to salvation.
The course is a detailed explanation of Shaykh Faraz Rabbani’s The Absolute Essentials of Islam: A Basic Hanafi Manual of Faith, Prayer, and the Path of Salvation, a concise manual based on the methodology of traditional Sunni Islam according to the Hanafi school of Islamic law.
This is a new version of the text, with all new recordings by the author himself, which is being premiered at SeekersHub Global starting Term 2 2015.
Following are some reviews of this book by prominent contemporary scholars:
“… a great service to English speaking Muslims … I recommend this book both as a starting point for beginners and as quick reference for the more advanced.” – Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam, Darul Ifta, UK
“I know of no other manual of Islam that presents the essentials of the Hanafi school and basic Islamic belief so reliably, concisely, and elegantly as The Absolute Essentials of Islam. Faraz Rabbani is to be commended for producing a work from which the new Muslim can learn, the practicing Muslim check his fiqh, or the student merely curious about the practice of Islam see how it all fits together. It is likely to serve the Ummah, Allah willing, as long as there are English-speaking Muslims in it who want to know their din. This book works.” – Shaykh Nuh Ha Mim Keller, Jordan

“KWB [Knowledge Without Barriers] has instilled in me, by Allah’s mercy, a love for Him and motivation to strive to Him. I honestly don’t know what else I could want.”
(Khadija, Bristol, UK – 2013 Term III)
“I found the course to be excellent, the lessons being taught and explained in a very understandable & convenient way. The teachers really understand what they’re teaching, and having full of experience with teaching western students. The forum was of tremendous benefit for getting our question answered, likewise the live session in addition to the forum was very beneficial as one had the direct interaction with the teacher to ask whatever question one had about the teaching material.”
(Mikail, Sweden – 2013 Term II)
“Overall, a fantastic and very effective learning experience.”
(Student – 2013 Term II)
“It is such a pleasure for someone from a relatively poor home to have direct access to reliable mainstream Islamic learning. Financial limitations prevented me from completing with Sunnipath/Qibla. Thanks KWB [Knowledge Without Barriers].”
(Abdurahman, South Africa – 2013 Term I)
“Amazing, responsive instructors. Solid, engaging content. Flexible, portable classwork to fit any schedule. Could not be happier, alhamdulilah!”
(Student, Michigan, USA – 2012 Term III)
“It is a great blessing to be able to have such direct access to such a knowledgeable Ustadh Alhumdulillah! Questions that I’ve had for years I finally got to ask and had confidence in the Ustadh answering my question; that they weren’t just following their culture or what their father taught them, or some secular-influenced compromise of the tradition but rather an authentic sacred knowledge that goes back to the Prophet (saw).”
(Zaidah, Toronto, ON, Canada – 2012 Term I)
“Overall, this course was a great opening to learn the basic fundamentals of Islam all from qualified teachers. The course support was fantastic. SG [SeekersGuidance] is a blessing. No more excuses. I can’t wait to let family and friends know about the other courses.”
(Anwar, Manchester, UK – 2012 Term I)
