Ustadha Mariam Bashar
“Teaching requires compassion for students’ situations, love for the student as well as love for the work, and a desire to make the world a better place.”
Ustadha Mariam began her teaching career when she was just 12 years old. She was covering a class for her mother, who was attending to Mariam’s younger brother in hospital. Even at that age, she was recognized as being blessed with the natural talent to teach. Since then, she has had students as young as two and as old as 70. She instructs classes on Islamic Law and Beliefs, as well as English, Math, and Public Speaking.
Ustadha Mariam obtained her knowledge of Shāfi῾ī fiqh through many years of study online and in person. She studied Ḥāshiyah al-Bājūrī and Fatḥ al-῾Allām alongside other texts with Dr. Ahmed Hassan, a pupil of Muftī ῾Alī Jum῾ah. She obtained her Masters degree in Fiqh from the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
Ustadha Mariam continues to expand her knowledge by learning from the great Syrian scholars Shaykh Rushdī al-Qalam and Shaykh Ḥassan Hīto. In addition, she is currently studying al-Taqrīrāt al-Sadīdah fī al-Masā´il al-Mufīdah with the author of the book, Shaykh Muḥammad Omar al-Kāf.
She holds a Masters Degree in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from Tufts Sackler School for Biomedical Sciences in Boston, USA.
Ustadha Mariam is a tuition instructor at Axiom Learning. The center has described her as “one of our best instructors globally.”
She is an Instructor of Islamic Law online at SeekersHub Global and al-Masalik, and locally in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.
