07 – Khansa’ – The Poetess of Islam


In this episode of “Simply The Best” Shaykh Sadullah Khan, covers the story of Khansa’ the poetess. She would recite her poetry at special occasions. Khansa’ would think deeply and had a reservoir of emotions on which to extract her poetry from. She arrived in Madina in the seventh year after hijra after her entire tribe entered Islam. Khansa’ gained fame from her distinguished poetry. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) admired Khansa’ and would often ask her to recite poetry.

Shaykh Sadullah Khan memorized the Qur’an at the age of eight, studied Law in South Africa, Journalism in Britain and Islamic Studies in Egypt and USA. He has spearheaded youth development programs in South Africa and the USA for two decades; has been an inspiring religious leader, motivational speaker and an educator for the past 25 years.
