Shaykh Yahya relates that the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: “paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers”. He explains what being good to one’s parents (birr al-walidayn) means. Shaykh Yahya also highlights the command to show excellence to one’s parents from the Qur’an, and the emphasis of this in Islam. He also clarifies that this is a right owed to one’s parents and applies to parents whether they be Muslim or not.
